Advanced Network & Services, which played a leading role in the growth of the Internet in the early 1990s, did so again by contributing to the Internet2 program. Formed by the nation's leading research universities, Internet2 dovetails the Federal government's Next Generation Internet initiative to dramatically advance the speed and quality of the Internet's infrastructure and thus the ability to evolve new applications.
Internet2 is a cooperative effort of more than one hundred universities working together with industry, government, and nonprofit organizations. As a vital tool for future research in higher education, Internet2 assures universities and other research centers access to the most advanced network-based applications and infrastructure.
