User accounts on the Surveyor Measurement Machines

Site administrators can obtain a login on the Surveyor Measurement Machine at their campus.
There shall be no more than 2 authorized users at each site.

To get a login on the Surveyor Measurement Machine :

1) You will need to install Secure Shell (SSh) on the machine you will be logging in from. Secure Shell is at http://www.cs.hut.fi/ssh/ . SSh runs on most UNIX platforms and we have found it fairly easy to build and install.
If you have problems with either building or installing it, please contact surveyor-help@advanced.org.

2) If you are not familiar with ssh, please read the getting started with ssh document.

3) Generate the public-key using the ssh-keygen command and mail the key to surveyor-help@advanced.org.

4) You will receive a mail confirming that the account has been set up. The login name will be the same as the login id you used to generate the key.

5) You will be able to login to the Surveyor machine using the command "ssh surveyor_name" .
