GPS antenna site evaluation

I got a useful suggestion from someone at a TERENA meeting today regarding
selecting a site for the GPS antenna: if you have access to a handheld GPS
positioning receiver (these are common with recreational boating and other
applications), you can use the receiver to evaluate how good the location
is for GPS reception. Apparently some handheld models will indicate what
satellites it is seeing and how powerfully it is seeing them.
