Dear CSG Surveyor measurement machine contacts:

We have obtained two high-tech tools which can be loaned to sites for up to a week:

- A Garmin GPS II handheld GPS receiver which can be used to identify/verify acceptable locations for GPS antennas.

- A Black Box SCAN-LAN 150 Cable Scanner to identify faults in the GPS antenna cable and determine the length of the antenna cable using time-domain reflectometry (TDR).

The handheld GPS receiver could be used before installing the GPS antenna to verify the reception qualities of various locations while the cable scanner would only be needed in the event the measurement machine is experiencing difficulties in GPS satellite reception.

If you are interested in borrowing either of these tools, please send e-mail to csg-ippm-admin@advanced.org and we'll arrange to have the tool shipped to you. Also, if you know of any other tool which would be valuable for GPS antenna or measurement machine installation, please let me know and I'll investigate acquiring it.
