Surveyor / stratum-1 NTP

Hi,

As you are probably aware, we have a Surveyor measurement machine with a GPS time source at your campus. You had expressed interest in using it as an NTP server.

We would like to configure it as an NTP strat-1 server and have at most 3 time servers on the campus talking to it (they would ofcourse, be strat-2).

Would you please mail me the IP address of a max of 3 machines? I'll go ahead and configure the Surveyor box to provide NTP time to those 3 boxes.

Since we wanted to limit the load on the Surveyor boxes, we had the option of either limiting the number of hosts that would talk to the Surveyor box or do multicast.

I suspect that you would rather not do multicast. Please let me know if you like the multicast option better.

Dave Mills's note at http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/ntp_spool/html/notes.htm has useful information about setting up NTP across a campus. Please take a look.

Thanks, Sunil
