Sunil .... thanks for message below. Now looks like I'm on a mailing list for this project.I also understand that there is a problem with the GPS system at ULCC, I got a message from Kevin Hoadley (UKERNA) to say you can't see any satellites from the system here?
I will have to look into this if this is the case - can you confirm? Do you know if it's a problem with the the Ariel position or if it's a problem with the Cabling - there was an issue on the length of this - it ended up being longer than we first thought so we had to extend the cable supplied - could this be the problem.
I now have another potential problem can you or someone else help...
The problem is a CELLNET Christmas tree the University wants to put on my roof at ULCC !!! They've sold space to a national Cell Phone service provider (British Telecom). Is this likely to cause a problem for the Surveyor antenna? I'm more than happy to tell the University it can't place its CELLNET system on our roof because of this project.
The only details I currently have about the BT cellnet phone technology are:
The proposed Effective Radiated Power with respect to a standard dipole (Edrp) is 79W per carrier - although the license permits a maximum of 126 Edrp.
The frequencies to be utilised are within two distinct bands. The primary band is around 900MHz. The secondary band will be:
Base station received (Uplink) - 1710MHz - 1721.5MHz Base station transmitted (Downlink) - 1805MHz - 1816.5MHz
...... Can you comment on whether this will cause a problem to the Surveyor Project, or if you need more info let me know and I'll try and extract it - this is a little urgent as it seems the University in their wisdom have already down the deal - we were the last to know about it!
Thanks John, ULCC
